Training Institution Details

Ancient Hawaiian Bodywork is an intstitution based in Maui, Hawai'i which has specialized in teaching various forms of Lomi Lomi since 1997, specifically, Lomi Lomi Nui, a sacred, transformational massage from Ancient Hawai'i.

Jody Mountain, principal instructor, is a bodyworker, dancer, choreographer and teacher. She has been studying various forms of movement dynamics for the past 25 years. Since 1989, she has been studying, practising and teaching Lomi Lomi Nui, and is an advanced student of Kahuna Abraham Kawai'i (now passed).  Jody is a licensed massage therapist and Instructor in Hawai'i.

The teaching phiosophy is based in the wisdom of indigenous Kahuna Abraham Kawai'i:  "The development of the self comes before any other skill; that skill exists in the 'silent magnitude' within the core of your performance in any and all expressions."

Based on Ancient, Universal principles, as expressed in the wisdom of Ancient Hawai'i, the work calls us first to redefine who we perceive ourselves to be, and therefore our relationship to everything that exists. Training in this sacred form allows for renewed alignment on all levels of being.

Trainings are experiential, and in the ancient Hawaiian way, understanding is embraced first by the body, and then later by the mind. As we experience old concepts about ourselves dissolve, the ground of our Being emerges, creating a strong foundation from which to move forward - suddenly we are our own vehicle for Transformation.

This training will access the body's innate intelligence in it's pure form - not limited by the mind. Ho'omanamana (movement of the breath and energetic bodies), Ka'alele Au (Sacred Movement meditation), pure attention and conscious breath converge to inspire a release of resistance and awaken connectedness, knowing and harmony - the ability to allow Life Itself to guide us in each moment.

Finally, when we are able to touch another in this state of Grace, embodying the knowledge of who we truly are, the sacred dance of transformation begins. Foundational and intermediate Lomi Lomi technique included. Trainings will enable the participant to perform a full session of Lomi Lomi Nui.

Jody will be teaching in Ireland for the first time for a 5-Day Residential Training, September 4th-8th, 2009.

Course Location:  Hagal Healing Farm, Co. Cork.
