Max Drake

I have been involved with medical herbalism for ten years, having designed and manufactured many different types of herbal preparations, whilst establishing a clinical practice in Bristol. I have a first class BSc degree in Herbal Medicine from the University of Westminster, and am a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (founded in 1864).

In my practice in Bristol I help a lot of patients with chronic fatigue and sleeping disorders, digestive problems, as well as all the usual things you would see a herbalist for. I tend to pay close attention to diet and lifestyle factors, as well as using mainly locally produced herbal medicnes, where the quality can be assured.

Aside from clinical practice in Bristol, I also run workshops on crafting herbal medicines, and give talks on the history and practice of herbal medicine. I strongly believe in patient education, and have set up an educational project, the Urban Fringe Pharmacy (www.urbanfringe.org), to demistify herbal medicine, and to help people to help themselves.
