You don't say if this happens at night or sitting or standing.
Lack of calcium is often the culprit and bad circulation.
Are you on medication like beta blockers etc. because they do cause it.

As the last poster stated: not knowing whether it's at night or day or under what conditions. But leg cramps CAN be a sign of something serious but is more likely to be an imbalance of minerals particularly the balance between calcium and magnesium. Calcium will tend to contract muscles while magnesium is a muscle relaxant.magnesium is available in many foods (Shellfish, followed by nuts and seeds. Dark green leafy vegetables are also good sources of magnesium, as are pulses, cauliflower and avocado. Wholegrains contain useful amounts, but processing will reduce their levels.) Or buy a good magnesium supplement. Hope this is of some help. Look at my website - www.nutrition-4-all.co.uk. My contact details are on there too.

It is possible that you are getting leg cramps because you are dehydrated too. If they occur after exercise, ensure you drink plenty of water and try taking the homeopathic remedy China 6 before and after exercise.

Staying well hydrated, ensuring that you have a good balanced diet, and gentle exercise is important. I practise acupuncture, which is helpful for various conditions including muscular cramps, however sometimes something as simple as quinine does the trick. This is contained in tonic water. I work privately and also for the NHS and see many patients who suffer with more severe conditions, but often also have leg cramps. I recommend 1-2 glasses of tonic water per day to many with great effect. If you are on any medication, speak with your GP to ensure that it is safe for you to drink tonic water regularly. Once things improve, you may reduce the amount you drink, ie 1 glass, half gl *** per day, etc.
Good luck,
Christine
