Hello, I am a new forum member. I am an Integrative counsellor based in Staffordshire.
I am looking for a therapy room within Stoke-on-Trent or North Staffordshire.
I have been looking for a long time now but to no avail.
I am not able work from home.
I am trying to set up my counselling practice but have had no clients yet.
I have a website www.counselling4me.co.uk, but I have had no calls.
I am looking for people's experiences of this beginning process and suggestions or guidance please.
Thankyou

Hi Alanah,
We run a shamanic practice in based in Ipswich, and I just want to say that it does take time and patience to build a practice. Don't give up, keep looking for opportunities to talk to people about what you do, and keep envisioning what you want in the long run, your ultimate practice goal.
Get yourself on local radio to talk about an issue or your training, go to local business networking events, and find other people and practices that might be offering something compatible with you're services.
Good luck!

Hi alanah
In addition to Luitha's reply...also focus on what you want rather than what you don't want. It seems that most of your emotional energy is invested in why is it not happening...Rather than that appreciate what is woking in your life
Keep your vibration high on getting clients.

Hi Alanah
Starting up a new business is always difficult, but don't be put off.
I find that networking is the best way of building a business. You don't have to spend a penny eigther.
It is my suggestion that you have a free set of flyers and business cards printed through Vistaprint (if you have not aleady done so) and then go and speak to all of the therapy based practices in your area, including doctors surgeries as they maybe able to rent a room to you on a usage basis.
Join networking groups such as the Business Link, Chamber of Commerce, Business Venture and Forward Ladies (just to name a few). Always take a business card with you and hand it out at every appropriote eventuality.
You can have the best product or service out there but if noone has heard of you its not going to build the business.
Start by building rapport with other business owners and never leave a situation without asking for a referal.
If you need any further information you can contact me for a chat through my business site: www.yoo-cht.com
Good Luck

Hi Alanah
I think we are all in the same boat to an extent. I am also starting out and have just finished my website www.walter-black.com and am busy having business cards printed. I am also thinking of brochures of some sort, but it is tricky with room rental and budget constraints. Networking is probably the best and only way and never let your client leave without giving them a brochure or business card. Good luck

Hi I am also building up my practice and a tip given to me is as follows.
Donate time to a charity, they contact their list with your service and the money goes to the charity. Clients interested in your therapy come to you..... -

Hi
I know from personal experience it can be hard to build a data base of clients. The fact is we have all trained as Therapists one way or another and not marketing wizards. I can remember when I was training they incorporated a bit of IT into it, but nothing to do with how to set your business up once trained, sadly.
