Emotional Therapy

The times in which we live can make it difficult for us to express our true feelings and emotions, and our lives can suffer as a result.  If things aren’t working out, we may choose to opt for a new start, a new job, new home or new partner.  We hope things will be ‘different’ but, after a while, they are just the same as before, and we begin to think there is something ‘wrong’ with us.  This isn’t good for our self esteem or our morale and, although we battle on courageously there may come a time when we face physical or emotional problems that threaten to tear us apart.  Whether you have reached this point, or just feel that things aren’t ‘quite right’, it may be worth considering the benefits of Emotional Therapy.

Emotions.

If we subscribe to the premise that our physical bodies are solely ‘energy bodies’, then e-motions are simply ‘energies in motion’, and are the by-product of our experiences in life.  If at certain times in our lives either during childhood or at times of emotional trauma we were unable to express our feelings or have these validated, where do these emotions go to?  The answer is that they become stored or frozen and these repressed emotions then form the blocks in life that prevent us from being who we truly are and realising our true potential. Indeed current research suggests that on a molecular level, suppressing emotions can lead to individual cell receptors becoming blocked.  These blocks then interfere with normal healthy communications between cells, and this in turn manifests itself as dis-ease.

How can Emotional Therapy help?

Emotional Therapy holds the holistic premise that the spirit is of equal importance to the mind and body.  It differs from counselling in that rather than simply using the mind to analyse symptoms, it seeks to promote healing of the original emotional wounds or blocks by working through the feelings. It is about identifying suppressed emotions, from childhood and into adulthood, and becoming what we really want to be. By getting in touch with and making the connections between feelings past and present, E.T. can help us to safely deal with any insecurities and negative repetitive patterns of behaviour.

Emotional Therapy offers a safe space to deal with painful emotions and heal old wounds.  These wounds are painful, emotions are real, but we often deny them or bury them deeply.  Without acknowledgement and expression, they stay with us and block our ability to live the rich and full lives we desire.

Emotional Therapy can help unblock our feelings, strengthen our sense of self, and enable us to move forward.

What about the Therapist?

Emotional Therapy differs from more conventional psychotherapy or counselling in that the client and therapist work almost entirely with the client’s emotions, past and present.  Therapist’s aspire to the holistic view that it is necessary to heal the mind body and spirit – they also undertake a four year training programme, run by the Foundation for Emotional Therapy (a registered charity) before being invited to become a certified therapist.

The therapy goes at the client’s pace and the number of sessions varies according to the client’s needs.

‘No healer or therapist can heal you, but they can provide a safe, sacred space for you to look at your issues and provide you with the tools to access your own power to heal.’
